"The Human Library™ is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that challenge stereotypes and prejudice through dialogue. A place where real people are on loan to readers. A place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered." - http://humanlibrary.org/about-the-human-library/
The Human Library™ or 'Menneskebiblioteket' (as its called in Danish) was developed in Copenhagen in 2000.
It was borne out of a tragic incident, resulting in the brutal stabbing in 1993. A youth movement evolved from this, leading to an event being promoted as part of Riskilde Festival as part of a anti-violence. It encourages conversation with polar opposites.
